Editors play an essential role in helping writers deliver their best work to readers, and I am here to help you with your novel, memoir, short story collection, and poetry collection. Former clients have described my editorial feedback as gentle, encouraging, and instructive.

I hold a Master of Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia, a BA/BSW from McMaster University, and I am also a member of the Writer's Union of Canada. I have been editing for writers for 25+ years, and I am a seasoned professional.

 

I offer two types of editing services for novels, memoirs, and story collections, depending on the writer's needs:

 

Developmental Editing 

 

My goal as your developmental editor is to assess structure, plot, form, and character, while protecting the integrity of your voice in your work. I will highlight areas that could use improvement and provide potential solutions, and I will also point out areas that are working really well.

 

Developmental Editing Rate: $250.00 CA for the first ten pages, and $2.50 for each additional page. 

 

Copy Editing

 

My goal as your copy editor is to focus on spelling, grammar, punctuation, tone, and syntax, all while protecting the integrity of your voice in your work. I am meticulous and I have been told I have an "eagle-eye" when it comes to editing. I will leave no stone unturned.

Developmental Editing and Copy Editing Combination for Poetry Manuscripts:​​

My goal as your poetry manuscript editor is to assess your use of poetic devices and how well they enhance meaning, create rhythm, and evoke emotion; this includes assessing line breaks, musicality, enjambment, meter, etc, as well as punctuation, word selection, form, and more, all while protecting the integrity of your voice in your work. I began studying poetry in 1998 as part of the Writer's Guild in high school, then went on to continue studying poetry in adult night school prior to gaining my Master of Fine Arts in creative writing at the University of British Columbia, where I studied poetry extensively.
